When it comes to this industry, DJ OB7 has most certainly paid his dues. Emerging onto the scene in 2012 with his unique style, sounds and versatility, he quickly separated himself from the pack.

A tiny bit in depth, When did you start DJ’ing bro?

I started DJing in 2010, but I didn’t get serious with it until about 2012 when I signed to my first agency in Miami, so about six years now.

You used to go by Dj Oblaze, how did you come up with OB7? I remember you explaining it in one of your mixes, but for the people who may not know.

OBlaze, ha, haven’t heard that name in a while. Well, the more I grew with my music the more “dated” it sounded to me. It was a risk changing my name in the middle of my career like I did but it actually helped launch me even further. I wanted something that sounded futuristic, but also kept some kind of association with what people were used to. Fast forward, OB7 was born.

right on! Do you remember any embarrassing moments in the beginning of your career as a DJ?

Haha I sure do! I remember one night I got booked for a super important Christmas party for this HUGE law firm. I couldn’t afford a MacBook at the time so I ran my equipment off an HP laptop. Right in the middle of my set, my computer decides to do an update and it restarted my computer resulting in the music shutting off for about 20 mins. TALK ABOUT KILL ME NOW.

(lol!! ouch!) CDJ’s or Vinyl?

I could never turn my back on vinyl! That’s how I learned how to DJ originally, but as times evolve, you must evolve with it.. so as of now, I prefer CDJs.
